Richards was born in Penarth (Wales). She was educated at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She hosted the Welsh teenager magazine show Mosgito on S4C and was featured in short films before being cast in major roles on BBC TV programmes Crash and Being Human. Two years ago, she was cast as an executive secretary who had an exaggerated English accent in the TV show Breaking In. She was a Breaking In regular on January 2012. She co-starred as the character of Sharon in Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego's horror film Open Grave, alongside Sharlto Copley. She was Barbara Kean on the FOX Television series Gotham from 2014 to the year 2019. 7] She was the director for "The Trial of Jim Gordon", the fifth season episode, which premiered 7 March 2019.
