Rachel Keller

RachelRachel Keller is a fictional character in The Ring film series. The character was created by writer-producer Ehren Kruger and played by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist in The Ring and The Ring Two and shares a lot of similarities with Reiko Asakawa from the first Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who must figure out ways to escape the death penalty after viewing a video that was cursed that she discovers while investigating the death of her niece. Rachel must dig into the background of Samara Morgan after her son develops an unknown illness. Ruth asks Rachel Keller the investigative journalist to investigate the mystery surrounding Katie's death. Rachel is informed by Ruth, her sister, that she found Katie's disfigured body inside the closet. Rachel also reveals that Katie died from an attack on her heart. Katie's friends inform Rachel about the myth behind the cursed videotape and that Becca Katie's close friend was confined after Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend, and two of her best friendsall perished in bizarre accidents that took place in the same evening at 10:30 PM. Rachel travels to Shelter Mountain Inn and stays in Cabin 12, which is the same cabin that Katie and her companions were watching the videotape with the curse. Rachel is able to find the tape, and plays it. When the phone rings, it is. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is called Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel later discovers that Aidan (her son with Noah) watched the tape, and told her that he believed in her. Rachel looks through the tape to find the lighthouse and discovers it is located on Moesko Island. This was the home of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder who was cursed to appear on the tape with the cursed name. Rachel discovers that Anna had an adoptive daughter named Samara. She was able to create disturbing images that were able to be projected into the minds of animals, humans and other objects. Rachel encounters Anna's widower Richard. Richard insists that Rachel leave the scene as soon as she begins asking questions regarding Samara.
